Aniline

  • Pure dyed leather
  • No colour coating
  • Shows all natural markimgs
  • Shade variances
  • Soft feel
  • Prone to fading and staining
  • Difficult to clean 

Semi aniline

  • Similar to aniline
  • Some protective coating
  • More resistance to staining
  • Prone to fading
  • Easier to clean 

Bi-caste leather

  • Hard wearing
  • Polyurethane finish
  • Plastic feel and apperance
  • Surface can break down and become dull and tacky
  • Not repairable

Bonded leather

  • Cheap alternative to real leather
  • Made from natural leather left overs
  • Not as durable as real leather
  • Has vinyl feel to it due to man made process
